Providing Support and Guidance 52 High Street has been home to five generations of funeral directors, soon to be 6 generations once Jack has completed his qualifications. In 1965 the company became Northwood and Sons. We offer a full range of traditional and modern funeral services, including pre-paid funeral plans and pre-arrangements.

Putting the needs and wishes of people in the whole of Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin above all else. The funerals we arrange are not about us putting on a show, they are about your family and their wishes. We will always tailor our service to your needs and requirements. From the moment you contact us, our first concern is to ensure that we provide you with a caring and professional service that fully meets and exceeds your expectations. We will answer any questions that you may have, both honestly and in as much detail as possible, ensuring that you are provided with exactly the service you require and expect, whilst also offering comfort through clarity. 52 High Street has been the base for five generations of funeral directors, beginning in 1861 with Thomas Edwards. In 1965 it became Northwood and Sons. Andrew, Karen, Jack and their families grew up and still live in Telford, providing them with extensive local knowledge and a large network of local family and friends. In March 2021 Andrew and Karen's youngest son, Jack, joined the company with a view to one day leading the company when Andrew & Karen retire. Jack will be the 'sixth generation funeral director' to operate from the premises in High Street. We can offer a traditional funeral using our own motor hearse and, where required, the very latest Jaguar hearses and limousines provided by one of Shropshire’s finest funeral carriage masters. You will have a choice of coffins from our extensive range, with the choice of venue for the funeral service, perhaps a church or the crematorium chapel followed by either interment or cremation. We are able to assist with the choice of floral tributes at extremely competitive prices, and can suggest suitable venues and caterers for post funeral receptions. If you would prefer a less traditional funeral we can arrange many alternatives from a variety of hearses which range from a bus, lorry, motorbike, Morris Traveller, to a white VW Camper Van. If relatives or bearers requiring transport would prefer not to use modern Jaguar limousines, we offer a choice of alternative vehicles which include a people carrier, executive saloon car, executive 4x4 or a very luxurious Rolls Royce Seraph. Alternative coffins can be chosen from a large and comprehensive range which include willow, sea-grass, cardboard or picture coffins. Woodland and Green burial sites are also available, both locally and nationally.
