Lilleywhite Funeral Service

An Independent Family Run Funeral Service We understand how distressing the loss of a loved one can be, at Lilleywhite Funeral Service we have a wealth of experience within the industry and are committed to offering a highly professional and caring service. We are able to arrange both traditional and bespoke funerals with either a religious or non-religious style.

The Lilleywhite family have served the community of Greater Manchester and beyond for over 125 years and five generations. The business was started in 1897 in Kirkhams, Whitefield. As was typical at the time Reuben Lilleywhite was a joiner and carpenter as well as the local funeral director. In the 1960s we moved to our current premises on Bury Old Road, Prestwich. Where George and Mona Lilleywhite lived onsite with their children John and Sandra. Family values have always been integral to everything we do, and the third and fourth generation of the family, John and his son Simon worked to passionately serve our local community together. John DeRenzy Lilleywhite John spent his life working in the business, and through his knowledge and expertise built strong relationships within our community. He was a member of the rotary club, and spent a lot of time advocating for charities. He brought a brilliant sense of humour and warmth to his work, something which our clients always appreciated and remember with fondness. He was loved by all who met him both personally, and professionally. Simon DeRenzy Lilleywhite Followed in his father’s footsteps to work within the family business at the age of 17 and brought a new perspective to the way a funeral service is conducted. His heartfelt contributions to the families he served has had an outstanding impact on the profession and the community of Greater Manchester. He was a pioneer in the industry and appeared on ITV’s “A Dead Good Job” showcasing his professionalism and empathy. Susan, Julie and Amy now manage the family business together. Amy Lilleywhite Is the fifth generation to work within the business and after losing her father at the age of 24 truly knows what it feels like to lose a loved one. Her life experience brings a different dimension to her work and she cares deeply about every family we look after. She believes every funeral should be a celebration of the person’s life, as they live on through us. TESTIMONIALS “Just wanted to say a heartfelt ‘Thank you for all your guidance, help, and support following the passing of my wonderful Dad. We knew he was in safe hands as soon as he was taken into your care, and we felt a real family connection with you all. With much appreciation, love, and thanks.” “I am so grateful to you for the way you supported me through my sister’s funeral service. At all times I found you gracious, compassionate, and enabling and it meant so much to me. I wanted to give her as good a send-off as possible and you certainly helped me do that.” “In 2009 Simon Lillywhite helped our family prepare all the arrangements for our mother’s funeral. It was a terribly sad time and Simon was ever so kind and supportive. This year we lost our dear brother Barry to cancer and naturally asked Lilleywhite Funeral Service to help us again. We were shocked to hear that Simon had passed away and our thoughts are with his family and colleagues. We were again so pleased with the Service that Lilleywhites provided for our brother’s funeral and it was clear that the same levels of kindness, sympathy and patience that Simon had shown us were still paramount. Gary advised and managed our requirements in a confident yet relaxed and gentle way, helping us to deal with our loss and all the necessary arrangements in a thoughtful and timely manner. We would recommend Lilleywhites to others without hesitation.” “We would like to thank you all for primarily your extraordinary kindness throughout our loss, for your support, professionalism, tenderness, the shared sorrow and acknowledgement of the enormity of our loss. For every kind word spoken, each and every gesture made, for fulfilling every request and for the respect and care shown to our beautiful boy. Words are inadequate to describe to you all how much it meant to us.”
