At Daniel Robinson & Sons, we have a total commitment to the service of the bereaved and the care of the deceased. We understand that this is a difficult time and are available whenever you need us. The business was first established in 1892 when Daniel Robinson bought a building company in Stansted, where he began to make coffins and to arrange funerals. In 1912 he purchased another in Bishop’s Stortford where he also arranged funerals and supplied memorials. By the year 2000, the company had grown to include offices in Harlow, Great Dunmow, Sawbridgeworth, Braintree and Epping. Today, we help people across Essex and Hertfordshire, with further funeral homes in Halstead, Loughton, Old Harlow and Waltham Abbey. The business is owned mainly by the third generation of the family founder, Daniel Robinson. Gary Neill, BCAv, MBIE, is the Managing Director of the Company and is based at the Head Office in Bishop’s Stortford. The Halstead office opened in May 2007 in Trinity Street, incorporating Derek Holmes Funeral Service, before moving to 31 High Street in 2019. The premises have been lovingly renovated, with a warm and welcoming feel. To the rear of the building there is a beamed ceiling Chapel of Rest where services may be held if wished. Sandy, Donna and the team will be very happy to meet with you, whether it is here in one of our arrangement rooms, or in the comfort of your own home. Derek Holmes remains involved in the business as Funeral Consultant, and conducts many of our funerals.

The funeral director can give you a full list of what they can supply. They are likely to charge for these additional products and services, so you may choose to take care of some arrangements without their involvement, or you can use a different supplier.
1. This fee (which is sometimes called the interment fee) is the charge made for digging and closing a new grave, or for reopening and closing an existing grave.
2. In England, Wales and Northern Ireland, you will usually need to pay doctors’ fees as well. This is the charge for two doctors to sign the Medical Certificates for Cremation.
